La Festa Primavera 2016

Report

【Day2】16 Apr 2016

Enjoying every minute of long distance drive

April 16, day two, since the rally was scheduled to take place on a long course of approximately 360 km, the entrants checked the condition of an engine and prepared for the start early in the morning. Similar to the previous day, the weather was clear and sunny since the morning. They wore sunscreen generously, then departed from the Westin Miyako Kyoto.

Departing from the hotel, the entrants traveled to the Byodoin Temple, Uji City and the Kashihara Shrine, Nara Prefecture, and made a stop for lunch at the SHIMA SEIKI, Wakayama Prefecture. In the afternoon, they visited the Osaka Prefectural Office Sakishima Branch, Osaka and then returned to Kyoto. Under the clear sky, the entrants ended up driving a long distance across the four prefectures.

The route for day two included winding roads running through both tea gardens where bright fresh green leaves grow and beautiful mountains. In contrast to the winding roads, since the route included city areas as well, the entrants seemed to be enjoying every minute of the varied route to the finish line in spite of the long distance.

As it was Saturday, there were many spectators, including children, coming to cheer the entrant at each spot. Children were cheering and waving a flag lively in every place and it was very impressive. Many people were looking forward to seeing historic cars run in their town through this annual event. There were many tourists at the Kenninji Temple, the final destination, and they also were absorbed in releasing the shutter when historic cars ran through. Some people were excitedly taking photos of the cars that they happened to see, and moreover, asking the entrants a question and having their photo taken with the cars. We will be very happy if someone sees a historic car for the first time and finds it interesting even a little.

Day three, the entrants will depart from Kyoto City, passing through Nantan City, heading to Hyogo. After that, they will return to Kyoto to cross the finish line.
