La Festa Primavera 2019

Report

【Day2】20 Apr 2019

Pleasant drive in fresh green season

It was a clear morning on day two again. This weather makes me think spring is such a nice season. The entrants started up the engine early in the morning and checked the condition of their car. They drove the car in the parking lot of the hotel to fully get a feel for it. These work is entrants' morning routine and the time they communicate with their car is necessary to keep it in good condition.

The party set off from the Shima Kanko Hotel at 7:00 am and headed to J-Place Isobe for today's first PC competition. As the results of day one are already released, the entrants can't help thinking about their rankings. However, what's important in the remaining three days is to compete as composed as usual.

After finishing the competition at J-Place Isobe, the entrants left Shima City for Ise City. Their next destination was Ise Jingu. They received a stamp in Naiku first, then moved to Okage Yokocho. As the cars started to line up in front of the Akafuku main store, visitors to Ise Jingu stopped walking and released the shutter of a camera. Akafuku is served to all the entrants at a stamp point in Okage Yokocho every year, and Akafuku Chairman Hamada always comes to cheer for them despite his advanced age. He is looking forward to a once-a-year reunion with the entrants.

The party left Okage Yokocho, traveling from Ise City to Kihoku Town. They passed through a stamp point in Michi-no-Eki Kiinagashima Manbow to Yamazaki Sport Park in Kumano City. The PC competition at Yamazaki Sport Park was held in the results open format and many local people watched the competition. Some of the teams performed at their best to clock exactly the designated time.

After finishing the competition, the entrants had lunch at the Resort Kumano Club. Their stomachs were satisfied and they traveled to the next destination Michi-no-Eki Kumano-Itaya Kurobeenosato. This was the last point in Mie Prefecture. They arrived in Wakayama Prefecture and headed to KUMANO HONGU TAISHA in Tanabe City.

At stamp point KUMANO HONGU TAISHA, road safety prayer was held so that all the cars could reach the finish line without any accident. They went through the Otorii gate one by one and set off for the next point. Visitors to the shrine stopped walking one after another to see off the entrants.

They left KUMANO HONGU TAISHA and headed to today's last competition point, the Nankishirahama Airport Site in Shirahama Town. The PC competition here was held in 11 consecutive measurement sections, using the large site. It was hard to visually grasp the distance to each measurement line and was not easy to match the timing. The facial expression of the entrants when they stepped on the last measurement line told us whether they did well or not.

When the sunset dyed the sea red, the entrants arrived at today's finish line in Hotel & Resorts WAKAYAMA-MINABE in Minabe Town. They received the last stamp, finishing today's rally. They got sunburned, but still seemed to spend a fulfilling day.

Because cherry blossoms began to bloom earlier than usual this year, we had little chance to see them along the way. Instead, the mountains in Kumano and Kishu were lush green, covered with fresh green leaves. The calm and beautiful scenery from the car window was breathtaking.

Day three will take a route of approximately 380 km, starting from Wakayama and passing through Osaka and Nara to Hyogo. Due to the high temperature, some of the cars slightly overheated. The entrants have to take care of themselves and maintain their car during the second half.
