【Day2】16 Apr 2022

Unforgettable and Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter

We had clear skies on day two, compared to yesterday's cloudy skies. Although there was a strong wind and it was chilly, the sunshine was gentle and warm. The entrants were starting the engine and maintaining their car early in the morning. They set off from the hotel before 8:00 am in the order of the participant numbers.

The first destination was J-Place Isobe, the PC competition venue. The entrants were concentrating on the competition without minding the strong wind. The results of each section determine the final results so they were competing as hard as they could even in the morning competition.

After finishing the competition, the entrants headed to Ise Jingu Shrine. They received the first stamp at Naiku and made their way to Okage Yokocho. In front of the second stamp point, the Akafuku Main Store, many local people had already gathered, waiting for the arrival of the entrants. As the cars went into Okage Yokocho, Japanese drum and flute performance started and its lively music welcomed us. The entrants received a stamp and Akafuku as a gift, and headed to the next stamp point, the Takihara no Miya Parking Lot.

The entrants passed thorough the Takihara no Miya Parking Lot and received another stamp at Michi-no-Eki Kiinagashima Manbow. After arriving in Kumano City, they competed the second PC competition at Yamasaki Sports Park and had lunch at Resort Kumano Club. Their stomachs were satisfied and they left Mie Prefecture.

After arriving in Wakayama Prefecture, the entrants received stamps at Blue beach Nachi, the Whale Museum, Shionomisaki Sightseeing Tower, and Michi-no-Eki Susami. Many people came and watched our event in Shionomisaki Sightseeing Tower because the weather was good and also because GS (Japanese rock music) bands were performing there.

The entrants left Michi-no-Eki Susami and headed to the Nankishirahama Airport Site, the last PC competition venue of the day. The competition was held in the whole runway area and the competition settings were challenging, so the reactions of the entrants when they passed through the finish line were varied.

The entrants finished the competition and received the last stamp before leaving the airport. The finish line of day two, MARRIOTT NANKI-SHIRAHAMA, was just a stone's throw away.

We drove approximately 300km today. Cherry blossoms had finished blooming but beautiful dark pink azaleas were in full bloom here and there. Some local people were waving many times to us from the street, while others were enjoying watching the event in front of their house, sitting on a chair. Many children were also waving event flags cheerfully. We had many unforgettable and once-in-a-lifetime encounters on the way to the finish line today.

On day three, the entrants are driving approximately 430km, starting from Shirahama Town in Wakayama Prefecture and passing through Nara Prefecture to Awaji City in Hyogo Prefecture. The rally has entered second half so I'm concerned about the condition of the cars and that whether they can complete the whole distance safely.
